I love bananas. There I said it. And why not, since bananas are a superfood. They are packed with all sorts of good stuff.
But, sometimes, they get to that brown stage where they are just too soft to hold and eat without winding up with more on you than in you.
So, what do you do with these past-their-prime bananas? Freeze them! Here’s how
Peel 4 bananas and place in a quart-sized freezer bag. Seal the bag and smoosh (technical term) the bananas. Ultimately, what you want is for the bananas to fill the bag and for the bag to be about ½” thick. Lay them flat in the freezer and you’re good to go. Smooshing them flat makes it easier to work with the frozen bananas later.
The next time you’re in the mood for a smoothie, pull out a bag and add the bananas instead of ice cubes. You’ll get a much smoother consistency while adding lots of nutrients. They’re also great in homemade ice cream and milkshakes. Try this recipe for a decadent dairy-free dark chocolate banana milkshake.
What are you going to add them to?
